life of a designer

The newest project that I just finished was for Aveda. The project was to create a corporate identity (business card, letterhead, and envelope) for the company. We had to recreate and use the original logo, and colors. Aveda is a “green” company in the way that it conducts it’s business and develops it’s products. So my main focus was to show Aveda’s leadership in the environmental world, while also showing the corporate side of the company too. I added the leaf with the tag-line wrapped around it in a circle to give the recycled natural effect. While also playing off of the circles in the logo. I chose to print on a linen textured paper to give the natural affect.

Ok…..so school finally started……….Yea!!! I actually love school- no for real My designers block is finally gone and I have lots of cool new projects that I am starting. A few for school and one just personal. I love fall and It always makes for great pictures and inspiration. I got a Saturday off so Ryan and I just hung together and enjoyed one of the last few warm days.

ok………….so it’s been a while since i’ve made a post. work has been busy and i have designers block. ugh! surfing the internet always seems to help when i need ideas for a project. photoshop has been my choice program lately. i love that you can use brushes to give the same affect as traditional media. anyway, i found the most amazing website for photoshop brushes. www.brusheezy.com check it out! all the brushes are made by the users and generously donated for use by us (the design world)! most are high quality while some aren’t, nevertheless there is a huge variety to choose from.

i was surfing the internet looking for design competitions and found this website that is purely devoted to competitions in design.  Many of the contests have awards, and some of them a lot of money.  The contests originate from all over the world which makes some of them more challenging.  I like to participate in contests even if i have no intentions of trying to win…..its a great way to find new projects for your portfolio.  So anyway, check it out   http://www.graphiccompetitions.com/

Over the weekend I went to a benefit for children’s leukemia put on by the salon my brother works at- Glitz Salon. They had a cut-a-thon, massages, food and pictures with SUPERHEROS!! My brother was Batman and his best friend was Superman. I took pics of course. I just couldn’t resist making one of the pics into a comic.  Check It Out!!!
